Michaela`s diagnose is – double-sided retinoblastoma (a retina cancer).
Michaela was born at 10.12.2007. When she turned up 10 month her mother recognized something strange inside her eye. Her parents got consultation from ophthalmologist at child hospital of Kishinev city. The girl has been referred immediately to the institute of Filatov in Odessa. After checkup by specialists upon general anesthesia the terrible diagnose has been committed – double-sided retinoblastoma (a retina cancer).
The specialists said that an eyes have to be amputated and prescribed a course of chemotherapy. Michaela passed through chemotherapy at oncological institute of Kishinev. Then again checkup in Odessa and chemotherapy. We started to look for clinics in Europe, Moscow, Israel so at 24 November 2008 we went to Germany for checkup. After this checkup we were hopefully told by specialists that there are possibility to save the eyes. We have to pass through radiation treatment. After we returned to Kishinev and addressed to Primaria in order to announce in AIF about that we need help. We appreciate so much everybody who has helped us. These donations were enough to pass through the treatment and further checkups. At February-March the girls passed trough radiation treatment in clinic of the Essen city.
To avoid a cancer recreation we need to pass through checkup every 10 weeks during 5-6 years at least. After the first radiation treatment the Luka's family passed already 5 checkups. The next checkup booked on november 2010. The cost of every single checkup is 800 euro. Father of Michaela works at glass manufacture as a manager of shift, he has a low salary. Her mom works as a nurse at child's daycare facility. Michaela also has an older brother, whose at 3rd grade in school. For the Luka's family to pay 800 euro once in a 3 month is not affordable. Therefore the parents of the girl decided to get a help.
Michaela is a long-awaited baby. She is developed very well. The parents hope that by help of good-hearted and not indifferent people they could successfully finish the treatment process of their doter Michaela.
